About Security: Viruses, Spyware and Phishing Published in January 2005.
In a survey conducted by the firm WatchGuard Technologies, spyware is considered the biggest security concern by the technology departments of US firms. Two thirds of those surveyed considered spyware to be the greatest security threat compared with 23% who mentioned viruses and 10% that listed phishing as their greatest concern. Unfortunately those surveyed do not consider their firms to be adequately protected from the spyware threat, compared with only 27% who feel unprotected from phishing and only 7% who consider themselves inadequately protected against viruses.

Those surveyed, who all work in the realm of technology, were of the opinion that the executives of their firms consider viruses to be the greatest security threat, demonstrating that they were not up to date with new electronic security threats. 50% of executives think viruses are the largest security threat, while 40% consider spyware to be the greatest threat, and only 10% mentioned phishing. Viruses have been in existence for some time already while spyware is relatively new and has not yet made it onto the radar of corporation executives less likely to be on the cutting edge of security technology.
PanamaCOM offers Spyware prevention and removal services.
